I made puff puff today for the first time and I was pretty excited. But this experience turned out to be the battle of the puff puff you anticipated versus the puff puff you waka come (came up) with.
Wanted to post the recipe here as a way to also promote my blog so you guys can take time and look through the rest of my posts. Thank you.
Well, we know puff puff is everyone’s party favorite (Nigerians love puff puff). Just two days ago I told my wonderful friend that I will attend a wedding reception with her on Saturday only if she guarantees me that puff puff will be available. Fortunately I did not have to wait till Saturday to taste it because I made it myself!
I got this recipe from a young lady (with children!!) on Instagram. Her name is Belle Nnorom and she is the co-founder of the Foodace Spice Brand. From her biography, she has been cooking since age 15 (Fifteen). She has other amazing recipes so you can follow her on Instagram @foodace and follow me too @the_real_demiadeayo.
I personally do not remember when I started cooking but once in a while I enjoy trying new recipes. But of course I enjoy good food a lot whether it is made by my hand or not.
So here is what you need to know:
INGREDIENTS
1 1/4 cup flour
1/4 – 1/2 cup sugar
1tsp yeast
1 tsp cinnamon
I tsp nutmeg
1 cup of lukewarm water
Frying pan of oil
PROCESS
Add the dry ingredients in a bowl and stir in a cup of water. Mix till smooth. Cover with a napkin and store in a warm place for 45 minutes (This allows the yeast to do its work causing the dough to rise). Fry in round balls in hot oil and serve hot!
This recipe is that simple (almost like making doughnut). I will be honest though I did put a lot of sugar so it was really sweet! I will therefore recommend you use less sugar if you are not a sweet tooth person like me. Β I was confused about the nutmeg I used. I wasn’t sure how long it had been in the cupboard for π so I added a little cinnamon and it still turned out great!
Comparing the two pictures it is for sure that the student did not out-pass the teacher, but, I think I did a pretty good job for my first attempt. I therefore ask that you have a go at this recipe and tell me how yours turns out.
Hope you enjoy!!!!
