Walking before…

Hey beautiful,

Trust your weekend was amazing. To be alive today is enough to be thankful.

Just as it is important to follow Jesus it is also very important to walk before him.

Genesis 17:1
When Abram was ninety-nine years old the Lord appeared to Abram and said to him, “I am God Almighty; walk before me, and be blameless,

When we are small our parents usually ask us to walk in front of them so that they can see us and monitor what we are doing. It’s easier for them to hold unto our shoulders and turn us in the right direction while also giving us a sense of independence as compared to dragging us along by the arm from behind.
As I read the account of Lot leaving Sodom and Gomorrah, I noticed that Lots wife was actually behind him.

Genesis 19:26
But Lot’s wife, behind him, looked back, and she became a pillar of salt.

The man is usually the head of the home and should have control over his wife and children. Although Lot was in the position of leading his family to safety he also forgot to ensure that they were obeying God. Lot was a bad leader generally from the moment he decided to be a ‘follow follow’: following Abraham, being a captive, following glittery things(when he chose the better land over his Uncle).

God is like the bigger adult walking behind us on our journey. Although we are at liberty to walk our own path, He’s still guidig us home with the still voice and outstretched arm. It’s very important for us to walk before God and trust him to lead us in the way to go- that’s even how you know if you really trust him!!!
