So Sweet!!

I’m sure you’ve heard me say many times that I love food (I like admiring and smelling food-not eating it)!!!
This weekend, I happened to go on an ice cream tasting outing with my friend. I’ll tell you about that some other time.

Now you can imagine going without food for let’s say a week. Let’s assume that you’re just drinking water. Be rest assured that you will be weak, your brain activity will be low, you will tire easily and you will be lean and no doubt restless.
Those are the exact symptoms of someone who is starved of the word of God.
The word of God is bread. It is something that we should not neglect. Reading the bible yourself is different from reading a devotional or listening to an audio tape because everyone has an interpretation of the word. We have one Spirit quite true but the revelation might be different for each person.
Studying the word of God gives a conviction that cannot be fathomed when hearing from a second party.
“But sometimes it’s boring” You may say… Well how boring is this picture:

 Jeremiah 15:16
Thy words were found, and I did eat them; and thy word was unto me the joy and rejoicing of mine heart: for I am called by thy name, O Lord God of hosts.

Psalms 119:103
How sweet are your words to my taste,
sweeter than honey to my mouth!

The word of God is likened to honey and honey is sweet. If you take to much honey at a go you will be sick of it. So don’t try to rush the word of God or understand everything all at once. Instead study the word bit by bit as you go along and make sure you understand the revelation of what you’re reading at a time.
Sometimes I get carried away and just read my devotional and call it bible study for the day. Sometimes I don’t even read the bible passage just the memory verse. And with the projecting of the word at church, I hardly carry my bible around anymore. But I just knew something was missing. So I had to start doing my daily bible studies (as in open the paper bible with pen and notebook) again.

There’s nothing more nourishing and refreshing than reading the word of God daily. Let it comfort you and sanctify you. Let it be a directing principle to whatever decision you want to make. Don’t allow the Deceiver deceive you into neglecting the word for other activities or unstable materials. What you know can never be taken from you so know the Word.
