The Bird- Feeder

What I am about to share with you is something I learned from my grandma in a rather unconscious way. I came home one day and saw her feeding the pigeons. They flock around our compound and sometimes I get home and  see them gathered around pecking at seeds on the floor. But today I saw her as she poured the millet seeds on the floor with the birds not too far from her feet and I smiled.

I smiled firstly because I wondered at such a kind heart and just knew that was why she never lacked anything.

I smiled again because it reminded me of God and his own loving and caring nature.

Matthew 6:26-27
Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?

God has many ways of doing things and this old woman was a symbol of God’s hand feeding the birds. So while I reflected on my grandma’s gesture, I wrote down 3 points to share with you:

1.God cares

Indeed these pigeons do not store in bans but one way or the other find food to eat. Now, God went ahead to say we are more precious than these birds. I guess that makes sense naturally. I mean we are a higher specie of  mammals with the IQ to build planes and establish lasting brands but we cannot deny the fact that deep down we all have this instinct to do all we can to survive and ensure that our basic needs are met. We go into the hustle life and those who aren’t very good at the hustle go into the struggle life. God knows what we need and he also knows how urgent it is. Sometimes it can be frustrating and worrying when things don’t go the way we planned it. So no matter how much we have or how much we think we are lacking, God knows what we need most. Trust Him. Quit Worrying. Keep Praying.

2. God can use anybody

I wrote a lot on the first point because it is important to know how much God cares. If you trust him to meet your pressing need then you’ll trust that He can use anyone and let me add any means to meet your need. He often uses “unusual messengers”. If you believe then you will receive. All you have to do is remain focused. Keep your eyes on the prize and continue to work hard.

3. It can happen anytime

How expectant are you for that thing you’re asking God for? God isn’t really one for surprises. He’s always way ahead and has everything figured out. So you have to be ready!  We should be prepared and ready for when God will open the door. Let’s not get impatient, let’s not get tired of doing good or working hard or be discouraged by the fact that we aren’t getting results. There is a season for everything and there’s definitely a time to reap.

Don’t worry yourself about the needs you’re unable to meet up with, deadlines and economic crises. Don’t lose you peace, your joy and your sanity. Most importantly don’t compromise. Focus on the promise. Focus on the testimony. It is your season to laugh!

If God takes care of the birds he will definitely take care of you.

Shalom!

  1. Paul says:

Very clear and precise, especially when we see ourselves as channels and God being the Source, in essence God uses man to get to man and Jesus is a living proof of that because He’s “The Man” representing us in heaven [ 1 Tim. 2:5]

Sowing to the Spirit surely reaps everlasting life and we should see ourselves the way God sees us in Christ Jesus [ 1 John 3:17 & Gal. 6:9-10].

    Thanks for this edifying post
