It is another audio message (dancing!!)
Second great news…..(drum roll)….I have joined the extraordinary league of the working class. And that’s what brings us to our discussion today.
I work currently work for an energy supplier called Octopus energy and we have an acronym which we call the ‘octopus energy way‘ that deals with how we relate to our customers, putting them first and ensuring that we provide the best energy service. It represents our attitude towards the customers we supply and is a guide to us being understanding, open, proactive and original in the information we present.
Coming back to our topic, I am introducing an acronym called the ‘Christ way‘ which should indicate how we live our lives as Christians- not our way, not the worlds way or any other way but ‘the way’. We know that Christ is the way, the truth and the life, so this is a guide that reflects His of living so that we also can live the best way.
I pondered on what the acronym of the Christ way means and how it reflects God’s principle of love, holiness and of giving and here’s the revelation:
Charity is the foundation of all things. We know the saying that “these three remain, faith, hope and love, and the greatest is love..” and love is charity. Love is the foundation of the Christ way. The way we relate to people and live our lives is to be built on love..why?…because God is love (1 John 4:8).
With love comes humility. Christ so loved us that he humbled himself and gave up his title to die on the cross for us. It is this humility that brought the reward were God exalted him and gave him (Christ) a name above every other name. Humility is a fundamental principle of the way. Christ even taught his disciples how to treat each other in humility. He showed humility in his relationship with people the society considered as irrelevant and hopeless.
Righteousness means right standing with God. To stand right with God means that we have to live holy and we know that without holiness we cannot see God (Psalm 24:3-4). Living a holy life, a righteous life and a sanctified life comes with many rewards. But it should not just be about the reward or being blessed, it should be because we want to do the right thing and live the right way- Christ’s way. Living righteously is also not of ourselves but by the grace of God. We have to accept the gift of righteousness (Romans 5:17)
In accepting the gift of righteousness and living a righteous life, we also receive the ability to reign in life. Following God’s word and living right helps us to be an inspiration to people. We have this opportunity to be in Christ so that we can be a light and an inspiration to those in darkness. Christ was the light of the world. Through his love, humility and righteous living, he became an inspiration to many and was able to win souls for the kingdom. We are called and born into the family Christ to inspire.
We are called to live a life of service. Living a life of service is closely linked with being humble, showing love and being an inspiration. It is in our service that we live out our purpose. Our service can be us giving anything; time, resources or knowledge. There is something that we have that represents our core advantage, that is our tool to standing out in our service and represents the best way we can offer help to those in need.
The very last letter of this acronym is truthfulness. The word says the devil is the father of all lies. Often times we play with lies and half-truths (yes even me!) but we know that God is the God of truth always! Once again, he is the way, the truth and the life. I was having a discussion with a friend of mine and we were talking about how Christians live in hypocrisy. The world we live in, our environment and the things that happen around us making it so difficult to live honestly. It’s like no matter how hard we try, we still end up doing the wrong things and then pretend like all is fine, which is basically living a lie (Romans 7:15). That brings me back to righteousness, just to remind us that it is not by our power or our might but by the Spirit of God-the Spirit of truth.
All these principles are linked together. Every single representation of the acronym works together. At the end it is about being truthful with yourself. It is about knowing where you stand, whether you be in Christ or not. It about having a checkpoint to know if you are really following Christ’s way or your own way.
I am grateful for this revelation and I just wanted to share it with you. You can do same by sharing this post as well to your friends and family. Do like, subscribe and feel free to drop me an email!!!
Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. John 14:6
And now these three remain: faith, hope, and love; but the greatest of these is love. 1 Corinthians 13:13
Who may ascend into the hill of the LORD? And who may stand in His holy place? He who has clean hands and a pure heart, Who has not lifted up his soul to falsehood And has not sworn deceitfully. Psalm 24:3-4
Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.1 John 4:8
For if, by the trespass of the one man, death reigned through that one man, how much more will those who receive an abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness reign in life through the one man, Jesus Christ! Romans 5:17
You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out his desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, refusing to uphold the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, because he is a liar and the father of lies. John 8:44
We know that the Law is spiritual; but I am unspiritual, sold as a slave to sin. I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do, I do not do. But what I hate, I do. Romans 7:14-15
However, when the Spirit of truth comes, He will guide you into all truth. For He will not speak on His own, but He will speak what He hears, and He will declare to you what is to come. John 16:13
