A Powerful Theme

Hi wonderful folks!

Hope you are doing well and if not that’s still fine because it will be well.

In whatever situation you’re going through I declare peace. I declare light to shine in the darkness and I pray that your faith will not waver. God’s grace and mercy will speak for you.

I also believe one of the most powerful ingredients to conquering any situation we face is love.

Here is why:

You may or may not have heard the famous opening theme to the powerpuff girls television show:

Sugar. Spice. And everything nice.

These were the ingredients chosen to create the perfect little girl.

But Professor Utonium accidentally added an EXTRA INGREDIENT to the concoction…. CHEMICAL X.

Thus, the POWERPUFF GIRLS WERE BORN!

Using their ultra super powers,

BLOSSOM, BUBBLES, and BUTTERCUP have dedicated their lives to FIGHTING CRIME and the FORCES. OF. EVIL!!!

Basically.

“Holy cow, it’s MoJo JoJo! Somebody call the Powerpuff Girls!”

(Dramatic song begins)

This is one opening theme that a lot of women will probably never forget.

In the basic sense, love is like Chemical X

Love is the ingredient that’s added to bind every other ingredient together and make something powerful and beautiful.

Colossians 3:12-14 talks about certain virtues of humility, mercy, kindness, gentleness, and patience. Above this, it says we should clothe ourselves in love which binds all these virtues together in perfect harmony.

2 Peter 1:5-7 talks about similar virtues and that we should not just have faith but supplement – add to, top-up, increase, amplify – the level of our faith with knowledge, self-control, godliness, kindness, and love. Think of it as an inverted pyramid with faith being at the tip and love being at the base.

This goes to show how important and intentional love is.

Love is the reason we are born

There are many children born out of wedlock. There are children who with both parents present still feel neglected and unloved. Other children have been abandoned after birth.

In such cases it’s hard to understand how being born equates to being loved.

I will own up and honestly say that I do not have all the answers.

However, in the natural sense, any decision taken by two individuals who have come together to have a child by whatever means is love. The reason being that there are different classifications of love in our world today and this kind of love can be classified under Euros love (sexual attraction; admiration of the physical).

This kind of love on its own is never enough. There is an incompleteness.

On the other side of the scale are two people who are intentional about bringing a child into the world and when the child is born, there is a Storge or Familial love. This love is defined as the love of a parent for their offspring.

Although by human standards it is somewhat difficult to prove that love is the reason we are born, by God’s standard it is not.

For God so loved ‘me’ that he gave his one and only son.

From creation, God created everything that is and then created man to live in it so he could fellowship together with us.

After sin caused a separation, God once again showed his love by sacrificing one son for all the rest of his other children so that we can be reborn into his family. He still loved that son, Jesus, that he raised him from the dead and gave him an incomparable reward for his obedience. God’s love is the reason we are alive today and the reason we have the opportunity to live forever with him if we accept his love. Even in death his love still shows forth (John 3:16).

Love is our superpower

Love is on the same wavelength with supernatural strength. There is no room in love for fear (1 John 4:17-18). It is one of the keys to strong confidence. With this confidence, we have the boldness to stand up for injustice in any area of our lives. We have the confidence to help others who are either sick, in need, or being oppressed.

“For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline.” 2 Timothy 1:7 NLT

Every Spirit is tested

Love is a Spirit.

Whether we understand or agree, or we do not, the undeniable truth is that we are spiritual beings living in a physical body.

Our spirits have characteristics or fruits. The character a person exhibits shows the kind of spirit they have.

The soul is completely neutral. But can be influenced by a person’s spirit.

When you surrender to God and are reborn into his family you receive a new Spirit. A Holy Spirit. A Spirit that is of God and bears fruits that are characteristic of God. love is one of those fruits.

Every Spirit is tested. The strength of something isn’t known until it is put to a test. The material of something isn’t known until it is subject to certain tests even if it is as simple as a checklist.

The spirit of love will be tested

Holy cow, it’s MoJo JoJo!

He thinks he’s smart. He thinks he’s got all the fancy equipment to carry out his evil plans and darn, he is persistent.

Jesus’ spirit was tested but he did not give in to the devil (Luke 4:1-12).

We may be tested by other spirits of anxiety; jealousy; immorality. You name it (Galatians 5:19-21). But love for God and for those around us should keep us standing.

If we do fall for any of these desires that are contrary to the Spirit of love then we need to check our love level. We also need to know that every other virtue is bound together by love.

Faith is good. Hope is good, but Love is the greatest.

Unlike Chemical X, love is not an accident

It’s amazing that love binds things together and conquers fear but love itself is hard to comprehend and sometimes the presence of it is counterfeit.

It’s such an important yet rare commodity in our world. You can also find a lot of things like love but are not love.

Sometimes we try to get away with having sugar, spice and everything nice but not love. It doesn’t work.

True love comes from having a Spirit of love. That Spirit is from the one who gives it – God. Always go to the right source for what you need.

If you need love come to God.

If you want to give love come to God.

Father thank you for your love that abounds.

In a chaotic world it can be hard to comprehend how wide, high, long and deep your love is (Ephesians 3:18), but Lord, we start from a place of faith to say we know you love us.

Now, help us to grow in that knowledge. Help us supplement our faith to a place of perfect and complete love for you and those around us and may this perfect love continue to abound more and more in us. Amen .
