Happy Valentine’s Day!!!
I hope you are enjoying your day with your loved ones.
I know it’s all romantic, but for those who aren’t in any romantic relationship, it’ll be good to expand the scope a bit. So, I hope you enjoy this day with those around you and still plan something nice.
For those who are in a romantic relationship but not really feeling this day- it happens sometimes. It is Well!!! But you can do a few things –
- Whatever is holding you back – shake it off.
- Determine to make the best of today.
I have a few posts on love and relationships that I have been cooking!! Very soon I will be serving you all with it. Anticipate!
Today however I am focusing on an interesting topic that has interested me for a while and it has to do with the scripture: Proverbs 5:15-21
Drink water from your own cistern,
running water from your own well.
Should your springs overflow in the streets,
your streams of water in the public squares?
Let them be yours alone,
never to be shared with strangers.
May your fountain be blessed,
and may you rejoice in the wife of your youth.
A loving doe, a graceful deer —
may her breasts satisfy you always,
may you ever be intoxicated with her love.
Why, my son, be intoxicated with another man’s wife?
Why embrace the bosom of a wayward woman?
For your ways are in full view of the Lord,
and he examines all your paths.

I listen to a lot of discussions and so I can’t pinpoint which group I was in at the time when a speaker said:
“‘The Well’ in the Bible was like modern-day tinder.” 😂
Just imagine. If you were looking for a relationship you’d go where? – TO THE WELL!
Moses met his wife Zipporah at the well.
Isaac’s wife was found and proposed to at the well.
Jacob has initially seen his wife at the well before even meeting her father!
And Jesus met the Samaritan woman at the well. Although, that wasn’t a romantic gesture. (I will explain this more soon and I am also putting together a short script for it.)
From today’s scripture, here are some ‘well’ lessons:
Advice to the men – Drink water from your own well.
Social media is always hot with gist about men who have cheated on their partners. This is fast becoming a norm and it is being generalized. But, honestly, it is wrong. Men should remain faithful to their partners. Why?
- God is watching and the basic principle of life is that there is always a reward for all that we do (even in our heart).
- You are also blessed when you remain faithful.
- You get to enjoy your relationship.
Men are encouraged to enjoy their partners. This is different from the reward of faithfulness. Instead, it is a call to action. This enjoyment comes largely from you constantly drawing and fetching from ‘The Well’ (your woman). A lot of men give up on pursuing their love after they have settled but this chase (thirst, desire and love) should continue. Tend the walls of your cistern. Constantly visit it.
Advice to women – Never run dry.
Women cheat too. The verse “Should your springs overflow in the streets, your streams of water in the public squares?” applies to both genders. Infidelity should not be excused.
My ladies- do not let the well run dry!
The rain falls often so be ready to receive the blessing. Be sensitive. Be attractive. Be available.
One thing I picked up from the story of the Samaritan woman (John 4) is that God fills you to overflow and be a blessing to your partner.
As a woman, I must admit my struggles. However, success is the reward of hard work.
The Samaritan woman visited the well at a certain time of the day. I assume it was a time when others had probably finished fetching and had left. Her personal story tells me that she was probably trying to avoid the crowd.
Sometimes we do not feel worthy for many reasons, but Jesus made it clear that he sees deeper and yet is still willing and ready to fill us up till we overflow.
Advice to both – Let our love and respect for one another carry on FOREVER.
In conclusion, I just want to point out that we all have insatiable needs. That’s what makes us human. The only error is that we rely too heavily on another (like us) to satisfy our needs and this can leave us disappointed and drained.
There is however a solution. One that is not earthy and therefore not limited. If you are feeling disappointed, drained, thirsty, alone and in need, I advise you to fellowship (be connected and build a relationship) with Jesus. He has already made provision for what you are lacking so why search anywhere else?

On the last and greatest day of the festival, Jesus stood and said in a loud voice, “Let anyone who is thirsty come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them.”
John 7:37-38
