The Healing Process

It is the last Monday in the month of August 2021 and I am still amazed at how time flies. In truth, we cannot regain lost time, we can only make up for it. Which is why we have to be intentional with what we do with our time. We can spend the time worrying or mourning. We can also spend the time trusting, loving and rejoicing.

My son turned 5 months yesterday! Glory to God! It is so beautiful to watch him grow. I am blessed to have him.

I remember when I had my C-section. I was numb for the first 2 days, then the pain hit and it took weeks before I could sleep comfortably, move around comfortably, laugh comfortably. 😆 Indeed, I am grateful to God for those he used to bring me joy. Months later, I hardly remember how intense that period was for me.

As I laid in my bed, during the early hours of the morning, I said a little prayer – thank you Lord that I can lay on my side. I don’t know why I suddenly remembered but when I remember things I always just thank God.

As I pondered on it, the healing process came to mind. It’s been said that people deal with pain differently and that is true because we are different. Some cry. Some laugh. Some are numb. When I’m in pain, I could do a combination of all.

There are times that the pain may return even though it has been a while. I have scars that still itch. I sometimes have unexplained sharp pains. There are times that I remember situations that have caused me heartache. To resolve these aches and pains, I may need to take medicine. I may need to wait it out. At times the pain is gone as quickly as it came and I have forgotten.

Healing is a process that takes times. It takes wisdom for someone to know how to care for another who is healing. Sometimes, we are so blinded by our own wounds and pain that at that moment we are just incapable of helping anyone else. It doesn’t make us a bad person. It makes us human.

People can only try to help you. But be careful who you run to because not everyone is anointed to help you solve your problems. Only God is ALWAYS equipped to heal and help you.

Which is why we need supernatural strength and grace to bring about healing and wholeness. This is a scripture I use to pray when I find myself in need of healing, especially healing of the heart –

The LORD is close to the brokenhearted
and saves those who are crushed in spirit.
The righteous person may have many troubles,
but the LORD delivers him from them all;

Psalms 34:18-19

For physical healing, I usually use the scripture below to pray life into any area of my physical being that feels weakened.

And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies because of his Spirit who lives in you.

Romans 8:11

Healing is a process like growth is a process. Sometimes healing of our heart comes with maturity and forgiveness for either ourselves or others. No matter what you have faced and whatever comes your way, your healing can be and will be permanent. Hold on.

    Congratulations on having your new baby!!!. Thank you for your words, it’s one thing for someone to advise you regarding how to go about things as this and it’s another thing for one to be sharing from a practical experience. It weighs much more. Thank you again.
