As I lay in my bed in deep sleep, the words suddenly hit me.

I can’t remember what I was dreaming about but the words never left me.

I was prompted to wake up and write it down.

So I did.

‘TV’

I visualized an actual television like most people would. There was one I had at home with a long antenna. We would have to twist the antenna to get the best signal. We twisted it so much it bent. It even got to a point that it was not staying on the TV again so sometimes the antenna will fall off (struggle times).

Where is this leading to?

I’m sure you’re wondering. People have asked me about my Whatsapp status, especially because I keep saying ‘I am a TV.’

I was questioning this statement as well in my sleep. When I write I do so with illustrations most times. I had pictured a television and all the things about television that the Holy Spirit was trying to tell me.

As I pondered, the words ‘TV’ formed. But not television as I pictured but ‘Transformed Vessel’.

 

I am a transformed vessel

2 Timothy 2: 19-21 explains that in a house there are many vessels. There are vessels made from different materials, for example, silver, gold, and wood. All these vessels have different purposes. Some are used for honorable purposes and others for dishonorable purposes.

There is a wooden spoon used in Yoruba households called ‘Omorogun’. The English meaning is turning stick. Now this wooden spoon is usually used to make food, especially foods like amala (yam flour) or a large pot of jollof rice. In addition to being used to cook food, it is used to beat children who have ‘dishonored’ their parents (lol). I don’t know if it is because the Yoruba name for the stick has ‘Omo’ in it which translates to ‘a child’ in English.

The explanation is that everyone has a purpose. You choose whether it will be for good or not.

Why do I say you have a choice?

Ephesians 2:10 New International Version (NIV)

For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

We have established that we are God’s handiwork. We are vessels that God will use.

However, my take-home point from this passage is ‘created IN CHRIST JESUS to DO GOOD WORKS’.

We have a choice to follow Jesus Christ. When we do, we become reborn into the body of Christ (sons and daughters of God).

The second choice

…Not by power nor by might but by my Spirit says the Lord of Host Zechariah 4:6

…God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases him. Philippians 2:13

We need the power and guidance of the Holy Spirit to do the good work that God has prepared for us to do in Christ. We have to allow the Holy Spirit to work in us and through us.

Romans 12:2

Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to discern what is the good, pleasing, and perfect will of God.

 

I am a Transformed Vessel.

I am a vessel unto honor.

I am a TV

Let me bring it back to when I thought ‘TV’ meant an actual television.

I deal with smart meters at work. I come across the word ‘comms hub’ (communications hub) frequently. Without this device, the smart meter won’t be able to function, and we can’t get any information from it. The same with the TV antenna, without which the TV is basic hardware (a noisemaker).

We need to get our antenna tuned to the Spirit of God so we can hear him. He reveals the mind of God to us.

1 Corinthians 2:10

But it was to us that God revealed these things by his Spirit. For his Spirit searches out everything and shows us God’s deep secrets.

Once we have received the information (signal) then we can display (broadcast) God’s message to others.

I don’t believe I am the only ‘TV’ reading this blog (lol). Now you get it- you can share it!
